8 Reasons Why Mitt Romney Can’t Be The GOP Candidate And Beat Obama

(BrightCitizen.com) Here are eight reasons why conservatives placing their bets on the Mitt Romney campaign (or Mitt Inc) for the US presidential candidate will likely make the 2012 elections a fruitless campaign for Republicans.
  1. He is viewed as a chameleon on issues, changing to what side he sees he can get more votes (much like Obama).
  2. He is the 1%.  He has multi-millions of dollars that comes in monthly that makes him the natural ‘Occupy Wallstreet’ target.
  3. He seems disconnected with the majority of Americans.  This makes it hard for anyone to get excited about him.
  4. He’s outright mean acting in debates with the other candidates and even in interview with supportive news organizations responding to reasonable questions.
  5. He’s been running for offices too long.  He ran and lost in Massachusetts for senator, then for US president on the last cycle.
  6. He comes across as plastic, the Ken married to Barbie.  Americans are less than plastic and want someone who can relate to them.
  7. He has no true international experience, despite US business experience.
  8. He produces and promotes (directly and indirectly) false advertising misquoting both his political enemy (Obama) as well as other candidates.

Basically, Mitt Romney would be a ‘boring’ candidate for the US elections.  He would not stir the electorate as we have seen already no real zeal behind him in the polls despite some endorsements.  Some politicians have endorsed him thinking there is no other choice, but they should probably look again.    With Mitt we just have another John McCain type candidate.

There is one other issue that people don’t want to talk about for fear of political correctness that will likely hurt Mitt Inc.  It is really Mitt Romney’s political Achilles heel.

Many American’s identify themselves as ‘Christian’ and have branded the Mormon church as a ‘cult’ for decades. It may be difficult for him to garner their support.  Barak Obama professes to be a Christian but acts as an agnostic as we have seen from his actions denying national days of prayer and doing nothing to show any true sense of spirituality.

Most committed Christians knows Obama is a political Christian, just looking to pick up the votes of the cultural Christians who make up a large group in the US.  Mitt may not have that same pleasure.  We have already seen splintered support from Evangelicals go to Bachmann and Santorum (who have no chance of winning) over throwing their support behind Mitt. This is despite many Christian leaders saying they could vote for a Mormon (in case he secures the nomination).

If Mitt Romney wins the Republican nomination, we believe Obama’s chances of winning another 4 years have just increased.  Apparently, so do others.

Who Does Barak Obama Want To Run Against Gingrich Or Romney?

An excellent opinion piece came out by Gregg Easterbrook on Reuters contrasting which candidate Obama has a better chance beating.  You can read the article here, but the summary is excellent.  Romney would be a wash and nothing for Republicans to rally behind.  Romney, he is the 1%.  Quoting-

That may not be a fair charge, but it is a powerful one, with which Obama could pillory Romney. There is a clear political playbook to use against Romney.

This especially matters to the youth-vote/youth-volunteer equation. The young voters who enthusiastically supported Obama in 2008 now seem more turned off by him. But if 2012 pits Obama versus Mr. One Percent, young voters might get excited again. Obama would be offering them a chance to defeat Wall Street, at least symbolically.

Whatever other failings he may have, Romney has always comported himself with dignity. An Obama-Romney contest would be the kind of decorous, high-minded campaign at which the president excels. In an Obama-Gingrich race, practically anything could happen.

So forget the polls. If I am Barack Obama, I want to run against Mitt Romney.

The Hillary Clinton Of The Republican Party, Michelle Bachmann

(BrightCitizen.com)  Another debate ends in the United States of America for the Republican Party nomination.  The debates have become a very effective way for Americans to conclude which candidate they like best.

Strangely, the bulldog status of the events seems to have been taken up by Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann of Minnesota.  As a candidate of no particular influence, it seems her message is not to actually have a message but to attack whomever is a front runner in the polls.

In the debates, the Bachmann bulldog has locked on to the poll leading candidates with various criticisms such as Perry over Texas immunizations, Cain over his 999 plan, and Romney over not being a true conservative or flip flopping (which we tend to agree on that).

Today in Sioux City Iowa, Bachmann attacked mostly Gingrich for not being a true conservative (despite a record to the contrary) and try to label him as a lobbyist for working as a consultant in the housing industry.  Will it stick?

Most likely not, as factual errors and dwindling interest have taken the air out of Bachmann’s political balloon.  From the bulldog perspective, Bachman has been like Hillary Clinton in the 2007 election primaries.  However, Bachmann has not got the support among Christians (whom she is trying to court), women, or any other special groups of influence at this time. The only person to really talk supporting her is Glenn Beck who many see as a front for actually supporting Romney or Huntsman later on due to his background religious connections.

It will be interesting to see if Bachmann can get any momentum in her campaign.  We certainly would like to see more ideas of her own and an end to criticizing others because they have higher numbers in the polls.

Republican Presidential Candidate Says Keep The Campaign Positive

(BrightCitizen.com) Newt Gingrich says keep the campaign positive.  Excellent advice we would like every aspiring politician to adhere to.

Dear supporters and staff, Since I announced my candidacy for President of the United States, I have made it clear that I intended to run a positive, solutions-based campaign. There is not doubt, these are difficult times for our country.

The American people deserve a respectful and constructive campaign that focuses on a vision for rebuilding the country we love. It is critical the Republican nominee emerge from this primary campaign un-bloodied, so that he or she can make the case against President Obama from a position of strength.

For these reasons I have refrained from launching attacks on my Republican opponents, though I have reserved the right to respond when my record has been distorted. On Monday this occurred when Governor Romney and I engaged in what in diplomatic circles is called “a frank exchange” over our respective records in the private sector.

That same day, however, Mr. Romney announced, “I’m not going to say outrageous things that can be used to hang [a GOP opponent] down the road.”

I agree wholeheartedly with this statement. So let us hope that from this point forward we can devote our energies to real issues, such as discussing our plans for our nation’s economic recovery and helping to create millions of new jobs for the American people.

I also want to reiterate to each of you what I have said from the beginning of our campaign, and most recently last Saturday in Iowa: We will run a positive campaign focused on our country’s future. We will not be running any negative advertising. With Ronald Reagan’s eleventh commandment in mind, we will ask our supporters not to contribute to any so-called SuperPAC that runs negative ads against any other Republican contender and we will discourage ad hominem attacks on our fellow Republicans.

Therefore, I am instructing all members of my campaign staff and respectfully urge anyone acting as a surrogate for our campaign to avoid initiating attacks on other Republican candidates.

It is my hope that my Republican opponents will join me in this commitment. Running a positive solutions-based campaign is the only way to guarantee President Obama is not reelected. Thank you as always for your support and enthusiasm.

Sincerely,

Newt Gingrich

Mitt Romney May Have Money But He Is Losing Credibility

(BrightCitizen.com)  As we were leaning towards throwing our support towards Mitt Romney a few months back, however we have seen actions of the campaign speak even louder than his words.

With Mitt Romney advertising that misquotes Obama, and now another round of adverts misquoting and misleading on Gingrich, it is clear that Romney has gone towards Darth Vader’s ‘Dark Side’ as the famous Star Wars movie scripts the evil character coercing the good character Luke Skywalker to ‘Come To The Dark Side’.

In American politics, the candidates are held to higher standards than their Asian and European counterparts.  If you do a search on Mitt Romney + lying + liar you will find sites like Rolling Stone magazine, ABC News and a myriad of bloggers highlighting the misuse of information by the Romney campaign.   Americans are not so ignorant to believe misquotes by any candidate.

We truly hope that positive will take the campaigning to a higher level.  Maybe Romney could learn a thing or two from passionately positive Tim Tebow, quarterback of the Denver Broncos.  Build up people, and everyone does well.

Why Is It That The Media Keeps Shoving Romney Over The Interest In Ron Paul And Newt Gingrich?

(BrightCitizen.com)  At BrightCitizen the only GOP candidate we have met is Mr. Mitt Romney back in 2006.  We were impressed with him.  However as we look back at the experience, it is clear that is what he was trying to do… hoping to impress.  The Economist magazine was not impressed as we were and commented that he was a bad speaker and was not good with crowds.  We did not agree with the UK-based magazine (they call themselves a ‘newspaper’) as we saw the contrary in person.

In his second attempt for the US President election, we had thought Mitt Romney was knowledgeable, a good speaker and very professional.  His business experience has been a point that stood out to us as the writers at BrightCitizen are all business professionals and believe there are too many lawyers in Washington DC.

However, it seems the media is shoving Mitt Romney down our throats.  Yes, he has been endorsed by New Jersey Chris Christie (another lawyer), but most Americans are clueless on who the governor of New Jersey is.  Why is it that candidates such as Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich seemed to be judged as unfit for debate while Romney is getting all the attention?

In November, things have begun to change.  We are happy to see many people beginning to connect with Newt.  We disconnected with Mitt’s message this summer as he doesn’t seem mind attacking, belittling, and misquoting not only the good guys he was competing against, but also Barak Obama.  His TV advertising is outright lying that reflects back on the whole Republican party.  He started with Barak Obama, but now seems to be lying about and misquoting Mr. Gingrich.  What kind of integrity is this?

If you read the comment sections of most news websites, you will also notice there has been a steady interest in, and excitement about, Ron Paul.  There really doesn’t seem to be that same excitement for Mitt Romney.  It just seems that most Americans accepted him as the lesser of two evils when compared to Barry Obama.

Do you think the polls are really the reason why Mitt gets so much press?

Rick Perry Ad Hits Nail On Head Recognizing Anti-Christian Sentiment From Obama and American Atheists

Although chances of Texas Governor Rick Perry being selected candidate of the Republican party are nearly zero, his advertisement hits the nail on the head recognizing the anti-Christian environment promoted by Barak Obama, atheists, and some politicians in America.

Please Mr. Trump, Stay In Business

(BrightCitizen.com) Yet again we see Donald Trump threatening to run for the US president.  Apparently he will be moderating a debate in December.  In a recent telephone interview he stated, if he’s not satisfied with the party nominee – he’ll run as an independent saying,

“If I endorse somebody, I’m with that person,” Trump said by phone in Florida. “But if somebody else gets in who I think is somebody that I don’t think is appropriate for the job, I don’t think could win, I don’t think would well and would maybe not be a good president, and if the economy continues to be bad, I would run as an independent, yes. I don’t want to do that, I love what I’m doing, and I’m doing it well, but if — if — those circumstances happen to happen, I would do that, yes.”

No one is going to be completely satisfied with any candidate.  We have learned from Barak Obama that the president needs to have experience not just the ability to whip up a crowd.  People are not satisfied with politicians but Mr. Trump running for President would likely just be a side show as most people will not consider him a serious candidate for President.  Our request to Mr. Trump, please focus on your business.

The End of the Herman Cain Campaign For US President

(BrightCitizen.com)  For CNN, MSNBC, and other left wing news businesses attacking Republican leaders and candidates is nothing new.  When initial charges of sexual harassment broke out regarding candidate Herman Cain, most people tried to look at the issue from both sides.  Sexual harassment is a common litigation that most companies want to avoid as we noted in our article, The Facts On Sexual Harassment in The United States.

However, with revelations of a 13 year relationship between the candidate and a woman other than his wife it is clear that there might be more to the story.  In Italy or France, candidates can get away with being unfaithful to their spouse much easier than the US.  Just look at people like Silvio Berlusconi in Italy or France’s Nicolas Sarkozy.

If you dare to listen to American political talk radio, you will still hear some supporting Mr. Cain, but with revelations of a 13 year affair hitting the streets he will probably have a marriage on the rocks to deal with.

A good rule of thumb for Bright Citizens is whatever you do in the dark is always going to come to the light.

Manchester Union Leader in New Hampshire endorses Newt Gingrich

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has picked up the endorsement of the highly influential Manchester Union Leader in New Hampshire, a boost for the 2012 Republican presidential candidate.  Check out the article here. The article says,

This newspaper endorses Newt Gingrich in the New Hampshire Presidential Primary.

America is at a crucial crossroads. It is not going to be enough to merely replace Barack Obama next year. We are in critical need of the innovative, forward-looking strategy and positive leadership that Gingrich has shown he is capable of providing.

He did so with the Contract with America. He did it in bringing in the first Republican House in 40 years and by forging balanced budgets and even a surplus despite the political challenge of dealing with a Democratic President. A lot of candidates say they’re going to improve Washington. Newt Gingrich has actually done that, and in this race he offers the best shot of doing it again.

It is excellent to see people are getting a chance to thoroughly vet these Republican candidates.  Mr. Gingrich has been through a lot, and although not perfect, seems to be willing to admit his mistakes.  We need experience in the Whitehouse as we know what inexperience in government can do to the nation.
