What About The Government Redistribution of Wealth?

I’m an electrician and have worked for 44 years. I spent the first 24 years working in Canada and struggled to get ahead because of the high income and sales taxes and additional fees the government levied on everything from gasoline to beer. I had no spare income for any sort of retirement savings account.

Twenty years ago I moved to the U.S. and began a new life in Texas. I now have a net worth of $650,000 and will add another $75,000 when I retire in 3 years. With that and some Social Security I’ll be able to enjoy a modest yet comfortable retirement.

This wouldn’t have been possible if I stayed in Canada. No amount of “wealth redistribution” will ever replace hard work and a prudent savings plan.
