(BrightCitizen.com) If you follow the news, you’ll find recently that Stephen Hawking, the wheelchair bound educator from the United Kingdom, is active. He recently published a book that makes an effort toexplain away God.
Hawking says in his book “The Grand Design” that, given the existence of gravity, “the universe can and will create itself from nothing,” according to an excerpt published in The Times of London in August 2010. God science does not try to explain away what it does not understand. Has Stephen Hawking gone off the deep end? Many would say. Some believe that he has a bitterness toward God due to his physical condition. But how can you have bitterness towards someone you don’t believe in?
We all have to be open to discussion. now Stephen Hawking, is boycotting a major academic conference in Israel out of solidarity for Arabs.Hawking wrote a May 3 letter to Israeli President Shimon Peres saying he planned to respect a boycott of the June event because he considers the Israeli government’s policy toward the Palestinian territory a “disaster.” But Israel Maimon, chairman of the President’s Conference, called boycotting an academic event “outrageous and unwarranted.”
“Israel is a democracy in which everyone can voice their opinions, whatever they may be,” Maimon told the Jerusalem Post “Boycotting is not compatible with open democratic dialogue.”
Looking from a Judeo-Christian mindset, it would seem Mr. Hawking is bitter towards anything God. Teachers are supposed to be open to discussion. Rather than shunning those you don’t agree with, educators encourage students to talk with them.
Moreever, how can a teacher boycott something which he is not an expert in? It is much like the vegetarian singer refusing to sing at a concert due to the people barbecuing dinner around the venue as he walks off in his leather shoes.
