Tokyo Entrepreneur Lunch Meeting Set For May
Nothing like a Spring day in Japan. Great to be alive in the thriving metropolis of Tokyo. There are so many great people and innovators, it’s energizing to be a part of the community.
For 6 months, I have suggested to various c-levels that we should bring people together who have actually founded companies in Asia. Running your own business means being head down and super busy all the time. Sometimes we need to get away from the micro-detail and reassess what we are doing. Sharing ideas, experiences and insights with other entrepreneurs helps to stimulate our thinking about how to work on our businesses and not just in our businesses. Many entrepreneurs have liked the idea and said, “Let me know when we do the meeting, I want to be there”. Well, we’re going to do a Tokyo Entrepreneur Meeting in May.
If you are experienced entrepreneur who is based in Asia (ideally Japan), and run a influential business, this is your chance. We are going to get together and talk about running business in Japan over a lunch. I will prepare the agenda, but please be prepared to talk as this is not a chamber of commerce, this will be an interactive meeting.
Date– 24 May (Tues)
Time– 1230PM – 1400PM
Venue Roppongi Hills Club
Cost 2,500 to 3,500 yen (depending on the lunch set)
If you would like to come, we need to confirm your place as space is limited. Please drop us a line here as we are going to easily fill the room.
Despite The Current American President’s Toilet Declarations, There Is No Tokyo Toilet Confusion
Found out the other day, that in America if you are a man who ‘identifies as a woman’ the current US president has declared to his nation that they can use the women’s room. Apparently, it works for women that identify as men as well. Completely missed this.
Thought I missed something big none of our Tokyo team has been following it either.
We welcome everyone so in our smaller Tokyo office, I told our team this AM, if they were a male or female who identifies as the opposite sex, they are welcome to use the toilet.
It was actually quite an easy decision, this particular office only has one toilet. 😉
The conclusion, there is no toilet confusion in Tokyo.
PS. Up until two years back, we were mostly gents doing tech engineering. Now, we’re very happy to have a good number of very capable ladies. We’re planning on moving offices later this year. The ladies want separate toilets and we desperately need more space.

Can You Imagine Doing Business Donald Trump?
Many people see business as profit and loss, getting orders, and servicing clients. As the famous movie Wallstreet ,with Michael Douglas, called it “ABC” or “Always Be Closing”. Of course, sales are a very important part of any business. However, if you have been doing any business for any extended amount of time, you realize that the last thing you want to do is burn bridges with your customers, employees, or suppliers. It is always good to do the right thing, and do you best to make people happy.
In the US, we’ve seen a business man become famous as a reality television star. This man inherited millions of dollars from his late father in New York and gained more money using his strong personality and direct way of speaking. Don Trump decided he was going to run for President of the United States. With past standards of the Democratic party and the mantle of the Republican party he began his run for office. The American campaigning for the US elections basically run two years.
As you look as
Mr. Trump, you think what if you had a customer like this? What would you do with someone like this? Do we really want to work with a person who curses like someone in an American restricted movie? Someone who tries to assassinate the character of their competition? A business person is documented as saying something and later denying that recorded comment? In the end of a deal, who likes to pay a premium for something just to find out you were ripped off?
Commerce works in this world because people have mutual respect for each other. Commerce really comes down to trusting the people you are working with. It is foolish to rip someone off because that person may show up again as a buyer, client, employee, or background influencer at another company.
We hope that no liar, cheat, or bigot takes political control of any country. If they do, their lack of ethics not only affects the government, but also drags down the standards of the business leaders and community in the country.
People aren’t ignorant. If a company has unreasonable, trash-talking customers, it’s better to walk away and focus on the good people. It’s good to frequently say when meeting new people, “It’s always good to know good people”. Respecting people and learning about them is what makes business so fun.

Wow! Politicians Scare You Sometimes, This Is Hilarious
In Japan, we have a lot of 7-11 convenience stores. Although, 7-11 was originally American, a Japanese company bought them out years ago. Normally, when a public speaker slips up in a talk it’s probably best to try to correct yourself quickly. The speaker sadly confused 9-11 terrorist attacks with a convenience store. Apparently this politician didn’t catch himself, but he did our office a good laugh before going home from work.
Trump was about to deliver prepared remarks lauding New York values at Buffalo’s First Niagara Center Monday night when he referred to 7-Eleven.
“It’s very close to my heart because I was down there, and I watched our police and our firemen down at 7/11, down at the World Trade Center right after it came down, and I saw the greatest people I’ve ever seen in action,” Trump told the crowd.
